The Trojan hero, son of Anchises and Venus, who fled burning Troy carrying his father on his shoulders and the household gods at his side; ancestor of the Roman people and of the Julian house. The famous statue group at Segesta of Aeneas bearing Anchises was carried off by Verres (In Verrem 2.4).
