Roman goddess of the hunt, the moon, and wild places (Greek Artemis). Her great cult-statue at Segesta — carried off by the Carthaginians, restored by Scipio Aemilianus after Carthage fell, then removed by Verres — is the standing exemplum of In Verrem 2.4, and her shrine at Perge in Pamphylia is named already at In Verrem 2.1.
