Leges sacratae
leges sacratae
also: legibus sacratis, lex sacrata, sacred laws
Ancient "sacred laws" sworn under oath that rendered a person who violated them accursed, including the law making the body of a tribune of the plebs inviolable so that whoever struck a tribune could be killed with impunity. Cicero cites them in Pro Tullio (sections 47, 49) to argue how reluctant the ancestors were to sanction killing.
