Lex Aelia and Lex Fufia

Aelian and Fufian Law

Two laws of c. 150 BC governing obnuntiatio — the religious power to halt legislation by declaring the auspices unfavourable. The bulwark of the senatorial order against popular tribunes; gutted by Clodius's law of 58 BC, the grievance that runs through In Pisonem.
