Lex Antonia de provocatione

the appeal law

also: lex de provocatione, de vi et maiestatis, appeal to the people

Antony's promulgated law of 44 BC allowing those condemned for violence (vis) or treason (maiestas) to appeal to the people. Cicero argues in Philippic 1 that it effectively abolishes the two standing courts on violence and treason.
