Lex Calpurnia de ambitu

Lex Calpurnia (de ambitu)

also: lex Calpurnia, legem Calpurniam, Calpurnia

The bribery law on electoral canvassing carried in 67 BC by the consul Gaius Calpurnius Piso, imposing fines, expulsion from the Senate, and a permanent bar from office on convicted candidates. Cicero notes it was already written 'most severely' and that Servius Sulpicius needlessly demanded a tougher one (Cicero's own Lex Tullia) before prosecuting Murena under it.
