Lex Iunia et Licinia

lex Iunia et Licinia

also: the Junian and Licinian, Iuniam et Liciniam

A law of 62 BC (consuls D. Iunius Silanus and L. Licinius Murena) requiring bills to be deposited with the treasury before being voted, to prevent surprise legislation. Cicero lists it among the constitutional safeguards Caesar's coalition overrode in 59 (Att 2.9.1).
