Lucius Accius

Accius

also: L. Accius, Attius

The leading Roman tragic poet (c. 170-c. 86 BC), author of many tragedies on Greek and Roman themes (including an Oenomaus and a Clytaemnestra). Frequently quoted by Cicero; in Fam. 9.16 Paetus quotes his Oenomaus and Cicero borrows his 'wave against a rock' simile.
