Agis IV of Sparta

Agis

also: Agim regem, King Agis

Reforming king of Sparta (c. 265-241 BC) who sought to cancel debts and redistribute land, and was put to death by the ephors. Cicero cites the killing of King Agis and the expulsion of Lysander as the injustice that ruined Sparta and, through her, the rest of Greece.
