Antiphon of Rhamnus
Antiphon
also: Antiphontem Rhamnusium, Antiphon of Rhamnus
Athenian orator and logographer (c. 480-411 BC), the earliest of the canonical Attic orators, who (per Thucydides, an eyewitness) defended his own capital case better than anyone before. Cicero (Brutus 47) names him among the early teachers of rhetoric.
