Greek freedman of P. Licinius Crassus the younger; brought up in Cicero's house alongside Diodotus the Stoic. Served Cicero in Cilicia (51–50 BC) and Caesar in the Alexandrian war (48–47), then set out for Spain in 45 BC to write the history of Caesar's campaigns in Greek (Fam. 13.16).
