Aratus of Sicyon

Aratus

also: Aratus Sicyonius, Aratum

Statesman and general of Sicyon (271-213 BC) and leader of the Achaean League, who freed his city from tyranny in 251 BC. Cicero praises him at length for settling the dispute over confiscated property with money obtained from Ptolemy rather than by fresh injustice.
