Aristippus of Cyrene

Aristippus

Greek philosopher (c. 435-356 BC), pupil of Socrates and founder of the Cyrenaic (hedonist) school. In Fam. 9.26 Cicero cites his unembarrassed retort about the courtesan Lais ('I have her, I am not had by her').
