Gaius Cato

also: C. Catoni, C. Catonis

C. Porcius Cato, consul in 114 BC, grandson of M. Cato the Censor through his father and of L. Aemilius Paullus through his mother, nephew of Scipio Aemilianus. He was convicted under the lex Mamilia for his disastrous Macedonian command and went into exile (Verr. 2.3.184; 2.4.22). A standard exemplum of the high noble brought low.
