Gaius Curtius (of Volaterrae)

C. Curtius

also: C. Curtio, C. Curtius, C. Curti

A Roman citizen from or associated with Volaterrae, a close friend of Cicero since boyhood. He lost all his property during the Sullan proscriptions and subsequently settled on a holding in the territory of Volaterrae. Caesar enrolled him in the Senate after the civil war, but his senatorial property qualification was at risk if Q. Valerius Orca distributed the Volaterran land, making Cicero's intercession in Fam. 13.5 especially urgent. Distinct from the Marcus Curtius in the registry.
