Gaius Vergilius

C. Vergilius

also: C. Vergilius, Vergilius

A Roman official and close friend of Cicero, kinsman (propinquus) of C. Coelius Caldus; he wrote to Cicero recommending Caldus in 50 BC. Probably identifiable with the C. Vergilius criticised alongside Quintus Cicero in Q. fr. 1.2 as a provincial governor, suggesting a former propraetor in the eastern provinces.
