Gnaeus Octavius (cos. 87 BC)

Cn. Octavius

also: Cn. Octavius, Octavius, Cn. Octavio

Consul of 87 BC and colleague of L. Cornelius Cinna, whom he expelled from Rome in a dispute over the votes of the new citizens; Octavius was killed when Cinna and Marius retook the city. Cicero cites their quarrel in the Eighth Philippic as one of the earlier civil wars fought over the commonwealth.
