Gnaeus Pompeius the Younger

Elder son of Pompey the Great; commanded the surviving Pompeian forces in Spain in 45 BC. Cassius, writing from Brundisium in January 45 BC, dreads his victory, calling him a fool who mistakes cruelty for virtue (Fam. 15.19). Defeated by Caesar at Munda in March 45 BC and killed soon after. Distinct from his brother Sextus Pompeius (person:sextus-pompeius).
