Cratippo Tyndaritano

also: Cratippus of Tyndaris

Cratippus of Tyndaris (in this Verrine passage, Verr. 2.4.29) is a noble Sicilian of Centuripae from whom Verres took horse-trappings said to have belonged to King Hiero. The far more famous Cratippus is the Peripatetic philosopher of Mytilene whom Cicero recommends to his son in Ad Fam. 12.16; the two are conventionally distinguished by editors.
