also: Decimus Brutus

D. Junius Brutus Callaicus, consul 138 BC and conqueror of north-western Spain, in his Lusitanian campaign known for crossing the Lethe and reaching the ocean. He was the patron and intimate of the poet L. Accius and adorned the family temples with his verses (Pro Archia 27); a model of the cultivated commander invoked at Verr. 2.1.144.
