also: Dio Halaesinus, Dionem Halaesinum, Q. Caecili Dionis, Quintus Caecilius Dion

Dio of Halaesa (Q. Caecilius Dio after his grant of citizenship by Q. Metellus), a wealthy Sicilian who had inherited a large estate through his son. Verres summoned him from his city, blackmailed him under threat of suit for the inheritance, and extorted a million sesterces (Verr. 2.1.27; 2.2.19-26). He is the principal figure of the so-called Dio affair.
