Dion of Syracuse

Dion

also: Syracosium Dionem, Dion of Syracuse

Syracusan statesman and disciple of Plato who tried to realize Platonic political ideals and briefly ruled Syracuse before his assassination (354 BC). Cicero cites him as a statesman formed by Plato's teaching.
