Diphilus

also: Diphilus tragoedus, the tragedian Diphilus

A tragic actor (tragoedus) who at the ludi Apollinares of 59 BC pointedly directed lines of his play against Pompey, which the audience took up as anti-Pompeian. FLAG: distinct from person:diphilus-contractor (the building-contractor Diphilus of Q. Fr.).
