Hermodorus of Ephesus

Hermodorus

also: Hermodoro, Hermodorum, Hermodorus, the foremost man of the Ephesians

A leading citizen of Ephesus and friend of Heraclitus, driven into exile by his fellow citizens for his preeminence. Cicero, quoting Heraclitus, cites the Ephesians' resentment of excellence as proof that crowds hate any man who stands out in virtue.
