Hiero

Hiero of Cibyra in Phrygia, one of the two artist-brothers (with Tlepolemus) who served Verres as his connoisseur scouts and accomplices in the looting of Asian and Sicilian temples. Hiero, a painter, and Tlepolemus, a modeller in wax, had fled their own city after the despoiling of the temple of Apollo there (Verr. 2.4.30-32, 38).
