Hippocrates of Cos

Hippocrates

also: Hippocratem, Hippocrates

The most famous physician of antiquity (c. 460-370 BC). Cicero (De Fato, fragment in Augustine, City of God 5.2) records that Hippocrates inferred that two brothers who sickened and recovered together were twins, a case of natural sympathy rather than astral fate.
