Lucius Aelius Lamia

Lamia

also: L. Lamia

A wealthy Roman knight and leader of the equestrian order; he championed Cicero's recall, was banished from Rome by the consul Gabinius in 58 BC, served as aedile (probably 45 BC) with a magnificent show, and stood for the praetorship in 43 BC with Cicero's strong backing (he held it in 42 BC). Possibly the same man as the Lamia of De Oratore 2.262 (person:l-aelius-lamia); kept distinct pending verification.
