Lucius Cotta

L. Aurelius Cotta, consul 144 BC, prosecuted under the lex Calpurnia by P. Scipio Aemilianus in a celebrated repetundae case and acquitted only by the indulgence of the jurors. Cited at Div. in Caec. 69 and Pro Fonteio 38 as a standard exemplum of the great defendant compelled to face an even greater accuser.
