L. Piso

L. Calpurnius Piso Frugi, urban praetor in 74 BC (the year before Verres's tenure), whose books of interceded decrees are cited as the standing record of Verres's misconduct (Verr. 2.1.119). He was Cicero's first father-in-law's family (his son was Tullia's first husband, betrothed in 67 BC) and is a standing point of reference for sound jurisprudence (Div. in Caec. 64; Pro Caec. 35).
