L. Scipioni consuli

also: Lucius Scipio the consul

L. Cornelius Scipio Asiagenus, consul 83 BC (with C. Norbanus), a Marian who was deserted by his army before Sulla and dismissed unharmed. Cicero cites the famous conference between Scipio and Sulla at Teanum as a model of senatorial negotiation (Phil. 12.27; 13.2; Verr. 2.1.37). He died in exile at Massilia.
