Lucius Brutus

The semi-legendary founder of the Roman Republic who expelled the last king, Tarquinius Superbus, and became one of the first consuls in 509 BC. Cicero invokes him as the ancestral model of the tyrannicide Bruti (Marcus and Decimus).
