Lucius Mescinius

Mescinius

also: L. Mescinius, L. Mescinius Rufus, Mescinium, Mescinius

Roman senator and quaestor who served under Cicero, probably during Cicero's Cilician proconsulship (51-50 BC). Their bond (the quaestor-imperator tie) was one of the most respected in Roman public life and Cicero describes the relationship as his closest adult friendship. He is heir to his deceased brother M. Mindius, who had traded at Elis in Achaea; Cicero asks Servius Sulpicius to adjudicate the contested estate (Fam. 13.26). Otherwise unattested beyond Fam. 13.26.
