Distinguished patrician Papirius bearing the cognomen Cursor ('runner'). In Fam. 9.21 he appears as master of the horse to the dictator L. Papirius Crassus and as a 'very much honoured man' in the family roll-call; the cognomen marks the celebrated line of Papirii Cursores of the Samnite Wars.
