Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, Caesar's magister equitum and consul 46 BC; in 44 BC governor of Gallia Narbonensis and Hither Spain and, from the Ides, pontifex maximus. He soon allied with Antony and Octavian as the third member of the triumvirate.
