M. Scaurus

also: Marcus Scaurus

M. Aemilius Scaurus, son of the princeps senatus, praetor 56 BC and proconsul of Sardinia 55, defended by Cicero on a charge of repetundae in 54. In youth he had served as quaestor under Pompey in the East and as prosecutor of Verres's old comrade Cn. Dolabella (Verr. 2.1.97). The trial speech (Pro Scauro) survives in fragments.
