M. Aurelius Scaurus

also: Marcus Aurelius Scaurus

M. Aurelius Scaurus, quaestor in Asia c. 102 BC; at Ephesus he was prevented by force from removing a slave from the asylum of Artemis, and the senate ordered Pericles of Ephesus to Rome (Verr. 2.1.85). He was the failed prosecutor against L. Valerius Flaccus (Div. in Caec. 63). His oratorical reputation is praised at Brut. 135.
