Hadrianus

also: Hadriano, Hadriani

M. Fabius Hadrianus, governor of the province of Africa in 84 BC and noted, like Verres, for his greed; the Roman citizens of Utica, unable to bear his exactions, burnt him alive in his own house and the senate set up no inquiry. Cicero invokes the precedent twice in the Verrines (2.1.70; 2.5.94).
