Caecilius Metellus Macedonicus (cos. 143 BC), conqueror of Macedonia, who built the Porticus Metelli at Rome and adorned it with a celebrated group of statues of the Muses (the 'Musae Metelli' of Fam. 7.23). Identification of the Metellus owner of the Muses is the standard scholarly view; flag if uncertain.
