M'. Curius Dentatus

Censor 272 BC and three-times consul, conqueror of the Samnites and Pyrrhus; as censor he cut a channel through the mountain to drain the Lacus Velinus into the Nar, the engineering work still disputed by Reate and Interamna in Cicero's day (Att. 4.15.5).
