Oeneus

also: Oeneus, Oenei

King of Calydon and father of Deianira, the wife of Hercules. In the dying Hercules' speech from Sophocles' Trachiniae (quoted by Cicero) Deianira is named periphrastically as the mad child of Oeneus, whose poisoned robe destroyed the hero.
