Perseus, last king of Macedon (reigned 179-168 BC), son of Philip V; defeated by L. Aemilius Paullus at Pydna in 168 and led in chains in Paullus's celebrated triumph of 167 BC. The end of the Antigonid dynasty and the catalogue-exemplum of the great king laid low (Verr. 2.1.55; De lege agr. 1.5; 2.50).
