Philip

also: Philippus, Philip

King of Macedon (382-336 BC), father of Alexander the Great. Cicero (De Fato 5) alludes to the story that he was warned to beware a four-horse team, then was killed by a sword whose hilt bore such a device, mocking it as a forced reading of fate.
