Precilius (the elder)

Precilius senior

also: senex Precilius, patrem eius, tui necessari, Preciliorum, Preciliis

Elder Precilius, father of the young Precilius commended to Caesar in Fam. 13.15; an intimate of Caesar (tui necessari) and close friend of Cicero. He is described as having chided Cicero for not joining Caesar, yet Cicero calls him amicissimum. He cites and endorses the Euripidean line 'miso sophisten.'
