Prometheus

The Titan who stole fire from heaven and gave it to mortals, for which Jupiter chained him to the Caucasus where an eagle daily devoured his ever-regrowing liver. Cicero quotes the long lament of the bound Prometheus from Aeschylus's Prometheus (Bound) as a paradigm of extreme bodily suffering.
