Calidium
also: Calidius
Q. Calidius, praetor 79 BC and prosecuted for repetundae after his governorship of Spain; convicted in 77 in the celebrated trial that gave rise to Cicero's cynical observation that a praetorian had to be valued at no less than three million sesterces (Verr. actio prima 38; Pro Plancio 69; Verr. 2.3.63). The trial is a standing landmark in the corruption of Roman juries.
