Q. Varius

also: Quintus Varius

Q. Varius Severus Hybrida, tribune of the plebs 90 BC, carrier of the lex Varia under which Italian sympathisers were prosecuted; perhaps the same man who deposed at the trial of Verres to having paid 130,000 sesterces for justice (Verr. 2.2.119; cf. Brut. 182). The Varius of the tribunate was himself convicted under his own law and died in exile.
