Silanion, Athenian sculptor of the mid-4th century BC, celebrated for his portraits and for figures in motion. His bronze Sappho stood in the Syracusan prytaneum and was carried off by Verres (Verr. 2.4.126). One of the named masters in the catalogues of plundered art.
