Stilpo of Megara

Stilpo

also: Stilponem, Stilpo

Megarian philosopher (c. 360-280 BC), celebrated for dialectical sharpness and self-mastery. Cicero (De Fato 10) cites him as a man whose vicious natural bent toward drink and women was wholly subdued by training, against the claim that fate fixes character.
