Theodectes of Phaselis

Fourth-century BC tragic poet and rhetorician, a pupil of Isocrates and associate of Aristotle. Cicero (Orator 172, 194, 218) cites him, with Aristotle and Theophrastus, as an authority that prose should have rhythm but not metre, and on the paean.
