Timocreon of Cyprus

Timocreon

A king on Cyprus into whose hands the philosopher Anaxarchus fell and who subjected him to torture, which Anaxarchus endured without flinching. The name is usually emended to Nicocreon, the historical king of Salamis in Cyprus.
